The Bible Project

I’ve been participating in the Journey through Scripture project this year, and over on our Facebook group, I’ve been sharing some resources as we read along (well, at least I was for awhile- whoops!). One of these is The Bible in Five by a guy named Tim Mackie. He used to be a teaching pastor at Blackhawk Church (before my time here), and he recorded these videos when our church was reading the Bible in a year together.

He’s since moved to Portland and is a pastor at Door of Hope Church as well as a professor of biblical studies at Western Seminary. I caught wind that him and another guy, Jonathan Collins, have started The Bible Project.

This videos are really fantastic. I’ve been so impressed with their quality- creatively and theologically. So far they’ve done book videos for Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Romans, 1 Corinthians, and Hebrews (and are producing more as they have the funding), as well as some videos that explain various themes through Scripture (Heaven + Earth, Messiah, Holiness, and The Covenants). With each video, they offer a (creative, thorough, well-designed) study guide for download, as well as some cool posters.

The reason I’m sharing this? These are top-notch. And they’re free. These are the kinds of resources that we need! Biblical literacy is a problem in our churches, and it’s resources like these that are going to help people (me! you! us!) learn and understand Scripture in a more thorough way, which will hopefully lead to lives that are more deeply connected with the God and the world He’s created. Like them on Facebook or follow them on Twitter for behind-the-scene peeks and updates on their upcoming videos. If you love all of this, consider giving (either one time or a monthly supporter) to help them continue to make all of this happen!

Hope you enjoy! 🙂
